Lantern Fly on Lamma Island. First time I've seen one of these. It was gorgeous!

Wow, wonderful shot, wonderful subject. I have never seen something like that before. Who knew an insect could be that colorful?

Please don't let them leave. In southeast Pennsylvania we are under quarantine for the spotted lantern fly. They say that they hitched a ride from Asia. Nice shot of a cool looking insect. The ones we have here are grey and black with red inner wings. Not nearly as nice as this variety.

Interesting. I didn't know they were destructive!

They are definitely unusual-looking critters...

The problem here is not so much being destructive but that they have no predators to keep them in check. I've heard talk of importing a wasp to help control them, but that just reminds me of a children's book (too many mice get a cat, too many cats get a dog ect ect).

I remember seeing them when I live in HK. Nicely captured.
