Osprey
Lens: DA*300 mm +HD1.4 TC Camera: K3 Photo Location: Chase lake, cottonwood falls Kansas ISO: 400 Shutter Speed: 1/2500s Aperture: F9

We camped a couple nights at Chase lake, There was a pair of Osprey flying loops around the lake fishing. Saw a couple catches but all too far away to be of any consequence. this one it flew right by our camp site. Turned out pretty good, it's not the dreaded black bird in a bright sky.

And even in focus! Looks like the old sdm isn't so bad.

A very good shot

Since I'm fairly new to Kansas myself, where is Chase Lake?

The point on the beak is sharp, the feathers beautiful. A great shot. Again, the TC seems to do its job quietly in the background without any obvious effect on the quality of the image.

Nice bird in flight capture. The lens and TC seems to work well together. TFS.
Best.

Thank you for the kind comments, I have to confess, I use back button focus so was kind of doing hybrid auto focus, keep the bird in close focus manually and hit the BBF button when needed (usually when I turned the focus ring the wrong way).

Thank you for the kind comments, Chase lake is just west of Cottonwood falls. Cottonwood Falls is about 21 miles south of Council Grove, Kansas on RT 177. Generally a very quiet place to camp and regain some sanity. Tall Grass Prairie National Preserve is just north of here, another nice place to hike and clear your mind.

I tried to get a shot of one in Ontario last summer - didn't end up all that in focus - well done!
