Mel and I descended upon the 2008 Culpeper Air-Fest in an overwhelming crush of Pentaxians... LOL Yeah, all 2 of us.

The lighting absolutely stunk because it was a virtually cloud-free day and the runway (north-south oriented) and most of the flying demonstrations all took place to the east and southeast of the spectators which meant that the only time we were not shooting into the sun was when the aircraft were north-ish or close to the ground.

Here are some of what I captured... All shot with the K10D...

MrRiley / Mel, You both have some quality shots of in flight action. I have taken air show photos for two years now. Last year with a 70-300 promaster/K100D and this year with a K10/phoenx 400 prime 5.6 I wish I had got my Big Ma in time for this years show, Oh well hopfully next year, maybe K20?/and Big Ma? Dreammmmm. Ok jim

Don't we all! We were shooting the same planes from almost the same spot (Mike was probably a few feet away, in the direction of the sun) and there is an obvious difference in what that BIGMA was capapble of. And the obviously greater experience behind the BIGMA as well (see Mike I remembered - all caps). I couldn't get any panning shots to save my life.

All in all it was fun trying something new. Next time I shoot planes I'll have a little better idea what I'm in for.

Hey Dan... This was this past weekend. The 11th.

btw, did you see my post about going to White Oak Canyon (foothills of the Shenandoah NP just SW of Sperryville) next weekend to shoot the waterfalls and fall foliage?

Always room if you'd like to go. You could always bring the legos and get a shot of them swimming under a waterfall! LOL
