For some reason (I suspect the ongoing drought), the aspen trees in the Sierra this year have decided that it's time to ditch their leaves NOW. Rather than the glowing yellow followed by brilliant red I was hoping to see from them, I mostly found dull yellow followed by browning/blackening... thinking about it now, they look like their imitating bananas going bad...

Some have gone altogether grey ...

Here's one with an interesting border...

This leaf drew a picture of Africa...

I did find a pocket of nicely colored aspen (relatively - nothing spectacular) in a small side canyon/waterfall area... I think they're doing better because they have more access to water.
