Walking stick

This Walking Stick was hanging out in the tallgrass around our camp a few weeks ago. Unremarkable image, but I never see them any more. Always thought they were really cool insects as a kid.

Man, how did you even see that?? Excellent eye. You maybe needed to get a little closer, and then cropped more, to help this "walking stick" to stand out, to help the rest of us see him better. But then, maybe conditions did not permit this.

But good spotting!

When you posted this I thought it was a picture of a stick that humans use as an aid to walking.

I still cannot really see the insect .... which is probably why I don't see them in nature either.

I should have changed lenses and gone back to take a few more. I guess I was too lazy twice that morning. First time was before the sun came up, the fog looked like smoke rolling across the lake. I should have drug my butt out of the sleeping bag and hiked up the hillside for the sunrise. Instead, I went back to sleep for an hour or so.
