Glacier Goat
Lens: Pentax-A 50mm f/1.7 Camera: Pentax Super Program Photo Location: Glacier NP

I took this picture over thirty years ago, but I expect that you could still take one today. Back then I was young enough to scramble up the hillside and keep moving until I got the shot I wanted. Fortunately, the mountain goat, symbol of the Great Northern Railroad {whose founder - J.J. Hill - had built many of the facilities to create a tourist destination along his railroad} didn't mind - he just kept eating and eating.

Thank you for your comment.

At age 71 now, I think I'd stick to the paved path.

The whole park is full of great views even if you stick to the official paths.

Hell, at 49 I would too... Love the vista, though, and the oblivious goat is fantastic.

I was under forty when I took the photo, and I took advantage of their policy of allowing the public leave the trail at some places, so I wondered around with my prime lens until I found the perspective I wanted. This was in comparison to Rocky Mountain Park, near Denver where I stayed off the grassy areas, obeying the "Stay Off The Tundra" signs, because there they had some hundred-year-old wagon ruts that Nature had not yet healed {but we saw some parents having kids stand next to the sign for a snap-shot}.
