Nice shot Rob, you must have been good and close to fill the frame so well. I must get out to Jerrabombera again but I'm not so keen on meeting any of the reptile residents now that it is warming up.

The Snipe was probably only about 4m from the hide, which is very unusual. The sun was on the wrong side, but that can't be helped unless I get up really early before work! I've been looking forward to the warmer weather to try to get decent photos of a Brown Snake. I want to get a photo of one sleeping, so I can get the whole snake in one shot. I understand your hesitation though - keep to the paths and out of the grass, and you should be fine. Most of the birds that only visit in summer have arrived - I've seen two species of Crake, a Royal Spoonbill, heard lots of Reed Warblers, Grassbirds, and of course the Snipe.
