I’m Interested in how you actually got to white pocket. Did you four wheel it yourself or go with a guide. I’ve been to the Wave a couple of times but have not figured out how successfully get to White Pocket as I am concerned about getting wallowed down in that talc-like sand. That entire area, including South Coyote Butte, is a landscape photographers delight.
I was here twice, the first time in the spring of 2013 and the second in the spring of 2017.
Both time I drive on rented Ford Explorer 4wd, very good car. When I was there for the first time there was no rain for a long time and the sand was loose and sometimes deep,
but Ford confidently overcome all difficulties. So if you have 4wd car and little experience can to get to the White Pocket with no problem.
Below the map you need to go along the green road, there are less bumps and sand on it.
I guess, that the best option is to arrive in the evening at 4-5, to get to know the place. It's located only few hundred meters from parking lot,
choose places for shooting and shoots before sunset and sunset.
Then go back to the parking lot, to eat, to relax and then return at 10-11 for a night shots.
After ending shooting again return to the parking lot, to sleep for several hours, wake up before sunrise and again return to shoot the sunrise and shoot until the sun has risen too high.
Then again return to the parking lot, to have coffee and breakfast and continue to drive to the South Coyotes, this is not far from the White Pocket, you only need to get a permit.
