Independence Limited
Camera: Canon QL19
Posted By: reh321, 10-29-2019, 11:19 AM

In July 1973, my {younger} brother and I rode the Norfolk & Western's "Independence Limited" from Chicago IL to Fort Wayne IN {the train would continue to the East Coast over several days}.

During the trip, only riders were excited in Chicago {#1}, but we drew quite a crowd during our water stop in Argos IN {#2} and perhaps even a higher percentage of the town as we passed through small town after small town {#3}.

Intertesting shots, I like the steam locomotive and people which are not glued to smartphones. Thanks for sharing these parts of history.

Thank you for your comments.
As may tell from my photography, it is an outwork of my interest in railroads.

Fascinating series. It is surprising the things that interest different groups of people.

Very Interesting. I love trains and Lao traveling by trains to far flung places.

Differences in interests between different people is what makes life interesting.

I share your interest. In this case we in effect went in a circle around the northern part of the state, but we had a great time.

As I have stated earlier, my photography began with anything related to trains, but especially older trains, and as time has progressed I have become more and more interested by the people who are attracted by the thing I came to photograph. As a result, I am so glad that these people "were in the way", and I photographed the whole scene, these many years ago.
