She doesn't look so happy - did she get a trick instead of a treat. The orange tinge to the lighting makes me wonder if it was lit with a jack o lantern

I'm beginning to think she might be the trick... and those hand straps don't look tight enough for my taste - run for your life!

Thanks mate, did want to make it look like a cinema still, so in post went for a heap of what the movie guys call 'colour grading'.

How do you know she's not involved, KD? We could be a sort of Fred and Rosemary West setup ...

Yeah, you need someone who can carry out the ideas, and she - it was a year ago, I think her name was Nicole - was really up to it.

I reckon in the same way a lot of journalists are frustrated novelists, there are models who are aspiring actors, too, and they're all over a concept.

A behind-the-scenes shot of everyone involved in the workshop. The two on the ends were the models for the day, the person next to me is in fact another photographer, that outfit is the style she normally rocks.

I refuse to believe such a nice lady could be involved in any of your shenanigans...

Seeing the model smiling in this shot just goes to show what a good job she did getting into character and you capturing it.

Ta, Mike, she's quite young, quite sweet, but also a real smart aleck, was impossible not to like her.

The studio provided lots of strobes/modifiers and two assistants to move everything the way wanted for our turn shooting (I suspect the real reason was to not let amateurs accidentally break their gear), and hair/makeup pro.

The other model was more experienced but just returning after raising a couple of kids. She's slightly shy but once the camera's clicking that goes out the window. I also used the Tamron 28-75mm, and we gelled the strobes:
