Rapids- fall series-2
Posted By: JMR, 10-17-2008, 06:58 PM

The second part to my fall outing. A series of rapids. Beautiful swirls everywhere one looks. I have to say this is one time I appreciated the instant imaging of digital. My initial exposures were way off. I had to overexpose in many instances by half to 1 stop because the white rapids were skewing the meter readings. Usually with large amounts of black areas (the rocks and dark water) one has to underexpose to retain the blackness. In some case it was impossible not to overexpose for the white rapids and still retain the proper settings for the rest of the scene. Just some observations I made in the field.

Just added a montage of berries. I think it goes with autumn.

Nice JMR - I wondered what the last one was. I like the flowing water - would love to see a faster shutter speed as well.

Thanks Daacon. I did try faster shutter speeds, but it was no match for the moving waters. Apparently some of this area was altered for kayaking, although it is a natural area. Also, there is the problem of ensuring that everything is in focus so a small aperture was necessary.
