This Black Crowned Night may look like a Museum Mount, But its alive. They can stand motionless for hours.

Here is the Immature form.. amazes me how much Birds can Change from Juvenile to adults

Great captures Al! They really are beautiful birds. When I was in Santa Barbara last spring there were several nesting pairs of them in trees right around the harbor. They had no fear of people since their nests were right next to sidewalks and parking lots. I got great close-ups of some, but not in the natural setting that you have captured.

Gorgeous shots. Agree; I'd never think that B would end up as A. HC Andersen's 'Ugly Duckling' springs to mind, though the juvenile is by no means ugly. A very elegant looking bird

Two very nice images. It is surprising how much some bird juveniles can differ from the adult form.

Thanks Todd, They can be like that. I have been in places where they had zero fear .. you are standing there and next you know, so are they. One of my favorite herons.

Thankyou! I agree, the immatures are very attractive in their own right! I have one framed in my house from this trip.

My pleasure! The adults remind me of high class butlers in formal wear!

Beautiful birds, and beautiful photographs.

Glad you liked them. The area these were took in South Florida is a really special area , highly recommend it to nature photographers looking to get off the well worn paths. fakahatchie Strand,
