Just back from a wonderful week in this city that never sleeps. As a small-town Dutchman I'm amazed at supermarkets that are open 24/7 and have espresso counters but also the number of Bird scooters in use around town, the Get taxi app, professional dog walking services and more. In between all of that modern life experience, TLV remains a city with a Mediterranean, somewhat Middle-Eastern vibe and that mix is fascinating to watch and experience. Where we have big discussions in Europe, here various cultures and religions seem to mix and mingle almost effortlessly. Is it only wonderful? No, tempers are short and the real service-experience is almost non-existent. Things we tend to take for granted such as common courtesy and friendly service are somewhat hard to come by.
