Winter Zoo outing
Posted By: R.Miller, 03-03-2007, 04:43 PM

The kids were off last Friday and temps got past freezing so we went to the Milwaukee zoo for a few hours. My apologies, I do not remember the species of birds that I photographed.

All shot with a K100D, DA50-200 lens.

Blue bird looking a bit serious. 1/15, ISO800, F5.6, 200mm

Tiger with a glint in his eye. 1/125, ISO200, F5.6, 115mm

Two ducks hanging out. 1/80, ISO800, F4.5, 95mm

Emerald Tree Boa. 1/50, ISO800, F6.3, 200mm

Pray tell how did you get the snake shot so clear and detailed?

I was pressed right up to the glass and held the camera really still. No reflection on this one. It was hard to get sharp captures through the glass in many of the exhibits but this one turned out well. It's my favorite from the whole trip.

Got to agree with Clarence on the Emerald Boa shot. Pretty sharp through probably not too clean glass. Better yet, the WB seems to be pretty good considering the wavelength of light used in the reptile houses.

That's one crazy shot of the Boa there. What lens were you using? Impressive, considering you pressed it up against the glass.

EDIT: Just re-read and saw the lens - I'm so bad. My computer being so slow to respond.
