What a sharp image (contrasting with the extremely creamy background). Great shot!

The way it flies around with the larger bees, it needs that intimidation effect

Great job at isolating the little guy from his surroundings. Insects are so cool looking close up.

Todd, maybe sooner or later, people will begin to realize just what an incredible lens the DFA-100mm Macro is.... or even the FA-100mm Macro! It's sharper than any lens I've ever used..... and that is including some stellar performers. Great work, sir.

Awesome shot! How much cropping do ya need to get in that close? I'm curious about getting that lens for macro

Thanks Dave! There is certainly a lot to see on insects when you see them this close.

It is absolutely sharp, and such a great lens to use. Thanks for the comment Dewey!

This is about 40-50% crop. I might have been able to get closer, but didn't want to chance having it fly away. I can highly recommend this lens as many others on PF have, including Dewman who commented above about it and the FA 100mm macro. I consider this lens along with my FA 50mm macro to both score 10 out of 10 on image quality and fun factor. For me, I can take photos of plants, flowers and insects all day long without having to leave my yard. And even if it is bad weather, I could probably think of 20 things in my house that would make good macro subjects. For that reason, they are the most used lenses that I have as well as the most fun to use (not to mention that they are both great lenses for many other things)
