When we visited Mt. Rushmore this summer there was construction all around, nasty banners and chain link fence. Went off to the side and took this.

Nice shot. At first I was like “where are the presidents.” Gives a sense of anticipated awe seeing them peeking through.

Very nice! My wife and I visited way back in 1998. We stayed for a couple of days and this is all we saw:

Photos like this remind us that there is more than one way to view something, even a 'great site'.

Thanks for the nice comments, I hadn't been since I was a kid back in the '60's. Would have been nice to stay in the area a couple days but were "just passing thru". At least the weather was good, we were gone 2 weeks and didn;t get a drop of rain.

Nice pix and different angle, which I like.

We went there with the kids in the '90's. It was a nice clear day in the summer, I had my K1000 with my old favourite lens, a Pentax 'A' 35-105 Macro zoom and got a few nice pix from the lookout point. We had some snacks in the cafeteria and it looked just the same as it did, in the famous kerfuffle scene with Cary Grant and Eva Marie Saint, in the movie North by Northwest.

We also took some helicopter rides in a 3 passenger (including pilot) copter...with a cabin shaped like part of a giant whisky * snifter. The pilot almost seemed to stand the helicopter on end to give us a very close up view of the president's heads...he was an excellent pilot, I was quite impressed with his skill.

It was a very good day at Mount Rushmore, a place I would recommend a visit.

* I spell it that way as I'm of part Scots ancestry
