Lens: 18-55 Camera: K3II Photo Location: Pritchard B.C. ISO: 800 Shutter Speed: Above 6s Aperture: F7.1

I took this data back in Oct. and decided yesterday I'd try and see how much I could get out of it. Took several hours to adapt a PS tutorial into Affinity Photo and come up with a working process.
Can't wait to refine this even more, perhaps with a shot I hope to get on Thursday if all goes well. If it works, I plan to use my 50mm M F1.7 to capture the data instead. Might switch to the Pentax 14mm though.
the Orion Constellation, with a little of the extremely faint Barnards Loop visible.

Thanks. I forgot to mention that it's 8x 5min(ish) shots for a total of 40 minutes.

And yes, you really do need patience. My first attempt last night was a huge failure, but I'm nothing if not persistent. And I find no two shots can be exactly the same, they always need some adjustment to the process to work. There are always surprises!
Hope I can get out and get the shot I really want this week!

Haha it's a deep dark hole... if photography were like the ocean -deep and full of things to sink your money and time into- then astrophotography is the Marianas Trench.
It's fun and rewarding but very laborious.
