The end of a long, hot day in the Bushveld
Lens: : smc PENTAX-DA* 60-250mm F4 [IF] SDM Camera: Pentax K-5II Photo Location: Olifants River Game Reserve, South Africa ISO: 160 Shutter Speed: 1/750s Aperture: F5.6

Many of my favourite landscapes are taken with a long focal length. This one was 200 mm and taken around sunset. The sky was overcast and dreary, the bush dry and hot, but the photo is interesting all the same.

This photo is a very good representation of the conditions you described. I like the horizontal layers within this photo fading away into the distance.

You captured the ambience of our bushveld nicely. I just wish it would rain! Thanks for sharing.
Best.

Nice shot with the blue layering merging into that sky. Africa has always called to me. One day I might make it there.

Don't you mean oppressive? Good depth in that image.
