Why you shouldn't listen to others (necessarily)...
Posted By: krypticide, 10-20-2008, 05:10 PM

Got up at 5 AM with some fellow photographers yesterday to shoot sunrise at a nature preserve. I was the only guy who looked up the trail map beforehand. Nearly everyone eventually gathered at a hill overlooking the coast and stayed there the whole time, but I knew there was a "Vista Point" further down. As I was going along, I passed one of the group members and asked him if you could see on the other side. He said you could, but everything over there was far too overexposed by the sun by then. I almost listened to him, but decided to take a look for myself. Boy, I was glad I did.

The original hill overlooked a nice but relatively uninteresting bed of fog. From Vista Point, however, the fog was receding enough that certain features started poking themselves above it. Here are some results:

Beautiful shots, I like #1 and #2 myself. #1 have kind of an ominous tone to me.

#1 is definitely a winner here.
Glad you followed your own gut-feel, it helps. People are different, so you got something else, while the rest of them got one thing

The lighting is what makes photography so interesting. It is the light that paints an image.

These are great shots, it was well worth your while to listen to your inner self. You never know when this type of shot will happen. You captured the area very well.

Well done, but I really like your first shot. And I agree with your reasoning, as shooting in and toward foggy or misty light is always worthwhile.

Yeah, so I'm red-green colorblind...and I have no idea what you're talking about. Would you mind being a bit more specific about what's green and what's amber? Thanks!
