Got up at 5 AM with some fellow photographers yesterday to shoot sunrise at a nature preserve. I was the only guy who looked up the trail map beforehand. Nearly everyone eventually gathered at a hill overlooking the coast and stayed there the whole time, but I knew there was a "Vista Point" further down. As I was going along, I passed one of the group members and asked him if you could see on the other side. He said you could, but everything over there was far too overexposed by the sun by then. I almost listened to him, but decided to take a look for myself. Boy, I was glad I did.
The original hill overlooked a nice but relatively uninteresting bed of fog. From Vista Point, however, the fog was receding enough that certain features started poking themselves above it. Here are some results:
