This man lives on the street. He is tough as you'd expect but in conversation is very affable with a witty sense of humor.

Very intense. The B&W I think was a really good choice.

When I did my brief foray into retail at a liquor store in NJ, there was a houseless man who would often be on one of the benches outside the shopping plaza. He would occasionally come in from time to time to buy some snacks or bottled water, occasionally a soda. Extremely polite and soft spoken. He apparently was fairly well-to-do, but after an injury at work, he left it all behind to go live on the streets instead. He had some family in the area that he'd occasionally visit, but mostly he just kept to himself.

Thank you for making personal contact with this man, instead of indulging in poverty porn. I was a director for a homeless mission for a few years and the people I met deserved just as much dignity as anyone else. You've done well to capture that in this photo.

Were you using 800 ASA film? (for graininess?) I'm curious how the APS-C DA 50-135 works on the manual focus 35mm LX, it certainly worked well for this photo.

A very intense portrait. I agree that it is good to talk to the person rather than just secretly take their photo. His story shows how easy it can be to fall from our position in life.

An example of excellent Portraiture Photography - worthy of hanging in any gallery you want to name!! Good, also, to be reminded that homeless people ARE people, and not to be regarded as eye-sores spoiling a local community.
