You seem blessed to have all the technical jargon for these aircraft.

There's an F-15 base about a mile from where I live. I never get tired of the sound of freedom.

It's good to know the language.

Check out the sexy arresting hook on that Air Force jet! Evidently they use them not for carrier landings but for holding the airplane during engine tests or for assistance during emergency landings or rejected takeoffs (on land).

Gorgeous. Always love an F-15E. Like the bigger, more brutish Eagle compared to the C's and D's.

To the previous poster's point, no, F-15's are not equipped for carrier operation. There was an F-15 N proposal, but I think they were only drawings.

These are great shots. The F15 is a mighty aircraft.

Well put. Many years ago (about 1970?) while the RAAF were waiting on delivery of their F111C, they leased some F-4 Phantoms from the USAF as a stop gap measure. I can remember being at my father-in-law's place, which was on top of a small range. The Phantoms used to take off from Amberley (near Brisbane) and climb out just over his block. When four would come screaming upwards and over you together the sound was spectacular. As you say "the sound of freedom."
