Lichen.

This stuff is everywhere around here and I've taken a lot of shots of it. But I only get just a few images of it I like. I like this one.

Thanks. Had not heard of lychee so I looked it up. STILL not sure what it is. According to one website it cures practically everything from acne to colon cancer.

Nicely captured. I think it's because you have enough DOF to get all the lichen in focus, but still have a great bokeh.
Thanks Robin. I appreciate your input. And I think you may be on to something. Many of my lichen shots get deleted because of too shallow a DOF.

"Lichens are widely used as environmental indicators or bio-indicators. ... If the air is clean, shrubby, hairy and leafy lichens become abundant"
Thanks Kerrowdown I did not know that. Very interesting. Going to find out more about that.

Nice macro shot. My wife would like to experiment with some of that. Some lichens give great colour as organic dyes. The colour of the lichen itself has no relation to the dye it produces.
Another interesting lichen fact. Thanks PJ1.

It’s just good to know that the air around you there is the “good stuff”.

I'm lichen this a lot!

What do you mean I'm not the first person to use that joke?

No. I'm pretty sure you're the first.

Yes, me too. I find myself trying too hard for the macro effect, and then miss a lot of the detail because of a paper thin DOF. Actually some of my best 'macro' shots are taken from further back using the DA*50-135.

I've used a k-70 / 55-300 PLM combo for some nice close up work. Not the strict definition of macro but getting there.
