Lightning ground strike
Lens: Pentax D FA 28 - 105 Camera: K1 ii Photo Location: Cairns, Australia ISO: 100 Shutter Speed: 1/30s Aperture: F10

Lightning strikes early in the morning the day after Christmas.. Even though I didn't feel that great, a few minutes in a field of sugarcane with a storm approaching I packed up not long after this was taken. the WR was tested to a point but I'm trying to avoid the camera getting overly wet..

anyway the outcome is this amazing shot, triggered with a miops smart trigger!!

It gets pretty wild and I'm only pretty new to getting close to lightning.. I was forced to take shelter after a while but I kept the camera switched on.. I was getting a bit worried at this stage and they were striking closer after this one... crazy

that grass is sugarcane and is 1 and a half meters tall, my tripod was fully extended as high as it could go great in a lightning storm.. lol

Wow, this is really close, although the metal lamp posts are calming.

Nice shots. That first one has everything to make it a 'calendar' shot. But I agree with the note of caution when the strikes get closer. Nothing more 'nervous-making' than when a cell is directly on top of you. And since I have come across a small tree that was struck by lightning when it was underneath a much taller tree I have had little confidence in either the height or metal lightning conductor theories. Electricity has its own mind.
