Just down from my house this morning.
Lens: 14mm Camera: K3II Photo Location: Pritchard B.C. ISO: 100 Shutter Speed: 3s Aperture: F11

9x singles stacked with median for the clouds, and then focus merged 4 shots to get clarity.

The bank of the South Thompson river just down from my house.

Great shot. The vertical aspect for a landscape is throwing me off a bit, but I think that's a good thing, to have a different perspective than usual.

How do you do a focus stack? If you don't mind me asking.

I've been digging the verticals lately. It's done a lot.

Focus stack/focus merge. It's like an HDR but for focus verses dynamic range. So each of the four shots is set to a different focal point to capture the entire scene in focus. Usually not necessary but I didn't want to use an aperture over f11 and the camera was nearly touching the ground, so to get it all in focus, I needed to focus merge.

In software, is that a photoshop option for focus stacking, as opposed to the usual panorama blending?

Really interesting and cool composition. I can’t quite put my finger on why, but it makes me think if an album cover.

I don't have photoshop but i believe they call it focus stacking. Affinity Photo calls it a focus merge. It's completely different than a panorama, which is shot to include a wider angle of view than your lens provides. Focus merge is the same composition just shot at different focus points.

Yes, PS has the option to focus stack. It does a pretty good job too but it is wise to auto align (also an option in PS) first as even with a tripod you can get some small amount of movement and there is also focus breathing or something like that that just comes with taking multiple shots with different areas of focus.

That is some serious depth of field. With a 14mm at f/11 that has been focus stacked, nothing is left to chance. Excellent work!

Thanks Wasp!
Yes, it was fairly narrow. I think I probably only needed 2, but why leave it to chance right? Better to get more than not enough, and the software does a better job of the merge if there are more slices.
