some nacreous clouds today (pixelshifted, against all odds)
Lens: SMC Pentax-A 50mm F1.7 Camera: K-1 II Photo Location: Mellanström ISO: 250 Shutter Speed: 1/125s Aperture: F7.1

this morning sunrise came with a colorfilled extra- some nacreous-/ mother of pearl- clouds, or polar stratosphere clouds, to use the scientific term...
the capture itself I had to take heavily underexposed, because to my experience elsewise the colorful highlights are easily blown out...I even dared to try pixelshift, against all odds, since it was quite windy ...

Very interesting effect and mix of colours. At first I was puzzled by your words "this morning at sunset" but then I realised that at 65 deg North sunrise and sunset probably roll into one.

yeah- currently it's almost the same, the sun barely shows up here right now...
but you're right, it should have been sunrise in this case my mistake, I'm gonna edit that ....usually I'm more shooting at sunset, maybe I was too much on autopilot when I wrote the text few minutes ago....
on paper sunrise right now is at 10:16 and sunset already at about 13:25....

A great new creative tool, not just for improved sharpness, but a special effect in-camera, pixel shift!

A very striking image. The sky in parts resembles dark waters.

it's for sure a great tool, I just think in this case mother nature delivered the even better special effects these psc-clouds are really special, and the northern skies the last two days showed a lot of these rainbow colors...

just read in an article that some tourists thought of these clouds being a daytime aurora

true! psc-clouds are usually quite rare, the last two days the skies up here in the north were incredible!

thank you redmenace! yeah, looks a bit like...the sky shows a little darker blue in this capture, as it was in reality- but that's because I underexposed heavily to preserve the colors in these clouds, they are really very bright and are easily overexposed...the normal clouds fitted in just perfectly...

Interesting image... I've never heard of such clouds before, I'll have to pay more attention or perhaps we don't get 'em here, being 1000km South of you in the Highlands of Scotland.
