Graceful as a ......

falling rock !

(can almost hear the sound of a WW2 airplane going down in the background)

(Landing gear)

A couple of shots from my sons field lacrosse game (not my son). The player had his back foot clipped as he was starting to sprint down the side line. He went down so fast he never even got his hands out in front of himself. Luckily the field is a brand new artificial turf field and is the perfect thing for crash landings.
Shots taken with a K20 (burst mode) & DA 50-135mm

LOL. Shouldn't laugh at someone elses misfortune, but that is funny. Brilliant captures and commentary

Great shots. Perfectly sharp and the sequence is great. Sorry to laugh at someone else's misfortune, I hope the landing gear did the job!

Thanks for looking,

The beautiful thing about being 16 years old is that you can shake off the bad landings and roll with the punches. This player bounced up to his feet, shook it off, and was running back down the field chasing the guy that scooped the ball up from him. The only injury was to his pride (downfall of being 16 years old).

Normally I use my 70-210 lens to capture soccer and field lacrosse. This is the first game that I tried used the DA 50-135 len. I was worried that it would not give me enough reach, but it seems fine. If you are content with capturing half the width of the field, and do not mind moving up and down the side line. (which I find acceptable) the DA 50-135 works flawlessly. Shots clear across the field or across large spans generally have too many unwanted bodies, arms, legs, Ref's, etc. The focus is fast, sharp, and surprisingly quite with the SDM), colours and contrast are nice. My only complaint is that I wish Pentax would have made the filter thread size 77mm like its 2 brothers (16-50 & 60-250) so I could share ND filters & my polarizer filter. I guess there is always a step up adapter.

I might post a few other shots from the game tonight.

Wonderful shots and very creative touch on the last one. I agree about the 50-135 being very good for field sports. I've used it for football and it's worked very well...
