Red-breasted Sapsucker.

And the holes they make. This sapsucker was a lot more skittish than others I've seen so this shot cropped quite a bit.

Very nice, especially if there was a lot of crop.

Nice portrait of the sapsucker. Love the composition and all the holes in the tree. The image holds up well with the crop. That PLM lens can really put on sharpness and clarity well above its weight. Thanks.

Lovely feel to this photo, I like the contrast of the strong light in the background and the impression of being in the cool filtered light of the trees.

Thank you all so much for the kind words. The 55-300mm PLM really does punch above its weight class. It gives even a novice at PP like me a fantastic foundation to build upon. And the K-70 is no slouch either. Here's the image SOOC.

One great image there, young man. Excellent work and as most us know, birds are always skittish and difficult to predict. Many thanks for posting.

That's quite a crop to end up with such image quality. Excellent.

Excellent image Dave! You made my day with this since I just purchased this lens for an upcoming trip to New Zealand and Australia. I have only taken a handful of shots with it, so seeing results like this are inspiring.
