Are they a commonly seen bird?

Superb Fairly-wrens are fairly common here in the Fleurieu Peninsular where there is sufficient cover such as dense shrubs and long grass or reeds.

Beautiful colors, wonderful pose - an excellent bird portrait. Nice color contrast with the flower pot. Wish I could hear the song. Thanks.

Indeed a very nice pose for the camera. I used a 55-300PLM lens. The one above seems a bit lighter blue.
I am in Victoria, Australia and they are fairly common. Only, I didn't know them as a "fairy-Wren" but a "Blue-Wren" as far as I knew.
They are not easy to photograph as they don't stay still very long as they hop or jump around looking for food when i see them.
Most of the time I pull my camera up to my eye level and they are gone.
Here's one I was lucky to capture last week.

They are beautiful. I can only compare them to our bluebirds, but I can't share as I haven't photographed one.

You are correct, I spent couple of hours today (windy and i am way out of form) trying to get another picture of one, resulting in no keepers :-(
it was a very bright day when i took my photo maybe the reason for the lighter blue compared to your nice pic :-)

Thanks for those kinds words.
I think I was lucky as I was at "Werribee Open Range Zoo" and i think the one I shot was probably a lot more used to being near people.
I was under cover at the time trying to get a photo of a Cheater through a glass window and he (the bird) kept dancing around me eating small bugs from around the window frame.
I took the photo with my 55-300 PLM lens and K-70.
