Night Another moon shot

Another moon shot · **1 Like**

After three years since my last moon shot, I finally was successful repeating the attempt last night.
Around 210 frames developed in LR6 + exported, pre-processed in PiPP, stacked in LynkEOS with deconvolution added, rough processing done in Affinity Photo, minor final touches back in LR6
ISO 100, 1/100s @ 836mm for each frame.
Missed white balance on versions 1 and 2. Got it right -with fewer frames- in version 3, processed all frames with proper white balance for this final version 4.
Took it after playing with my homemade eyepieces last night.

My head hurts after reading all that!!! But great shot (and processing)!

The colours come from different minerals and ages. Brownish/orange in the mare are much older low titanium basalts around 4 billion years old (i think it's between 4 and 4.2) and the bluer/black mare are basalts high in titanium that are around half the age as the other basalts. As far as I can tell, that data comes from Chinas Chang'e missions.

Yes, a lot of moon shots out there. While most are ok, few attempt to get this kind of detail. If you want a shot of the moon that stands out, you really need to try something special.
