Hi,

this is a stack of 18 frames, 30 sec. each, together with 60 calibration frames (biases, flats, darks). Shot on tripod with astro-tracer. Preprocessing with Sirl, star reduction with PS CS2 and final tweaking with Rawtherapee.

regards,

Dan

A fine image, thanks for posting it.

As you were using a 135mm lens, was this a big crop?.

I read the Samyang 135 is spot on for astro work, this shows that nicely. And with astrotracer, good work there too.

Such a seemingly simple photograph that demands such meticulous efforts.

Yes the crop is about micro4/3 size.

The Samyang is indeed excellent for astro work, provided you shoot objects of the appropriate angular size. It has very low CA and coma. Its only shortcoming is strong vignetting wide open, but you can get rid of that with flat field frames.

Beautiful work. I'm always interested in seeing results using Astrotracer; I'm thinking about buying an O-GPS2 unit for my K-70.
