Pixel Shifted, cropped in snowflake number 007. Number 8 will come tomorrow and probably be the last one for a while.

Snowflakes are funny to shoot aren't they. They never fail to delight and amaze.

If you're interested in learning more of the science behind them you might want to check out Ken Libbrecht's SnowCrystals.com website. Everything you could ever wish to know. Ken is a physics professor at Caltech and the author of several books on the subject.

Thanks for that! Always interested in anything science! I am fascinated on how they form! While these ones are very photogenic, I am also very curious as to what causes them to become rods, spheres, frosted etc. in any one session, it's fascinating to see just how much the type of snow varies.
