Glowing Black Oak

'tis the season for black oak gold in Yosemite Valley. This one is in El Cap meadow.

Great shot Josh - love the framing - too bad about the Sun flare - that could be a stellar shot.

Thanks Dave... Yeah, in my experience, that's the price you pay for buying a Sigma lens - flare. In this case, this was the Sig. 24-60/2.8 (with the hood on), I figured I'd post it anyway, as I like the shot otherwise.

Sun flare, I thought that was professional movie special effects.

I agree, where properly placed, flare can augment or even enhance an image. In fact, on zooms, I find it almost impossible to keep the flare out of the image when shooting toward the sun. NIce image.

Beautiful shot, and yes the Sigmas do tend to flare. This is where a wide brim hat can come in very handy as a shade. Although in this shot it wouldn't work as you were shooting very nearly right into the sun.
