Balanced Rocks on the Ottawa River -- submitted to my Camera Club
Lens: HD Pentax-DA 20-40mm Limited Camera: Pentax K-3 II Photo Location: Ottawa ISO: 500 Shutter Speed: 1/20s Aperture: F11

Here we are along the Ottawa River on a drab, misty afternoon. Someone has crafted these statues as an amusing distraction in the middle of winter.

Edit. In my original post, I had used the word "inukshuk". However, an inukshuk is a type of handmade stone landmark having special meaning to the Inuit peoples of the Arctic region. The term is often used incorrectly to refer to any balanced rock creation. Here's a reference to inukshuk (or inuksuk): Inuksuk - Wikipedia

Edit: I've submitted this image to my camera club's next slide competition "The Landscape". Looking forward to comments/critique from the judges!

Interesting shot. That is a lot of trouble for someone to go to. Some look like they are fairly precariously balanced.

I really enjoy these type of sea/landscape images. The balanced perspective along the Jetty is quite pleasing along with the fading of the shoreline going from right to left in the background. A

very nice and very interesting black & white capture. Very clever composition and it appears as though you covered all of your bases very well. Bravo Maestro!!

Thanks for your kind comments!

I didn't inspect the rocks closely, but I assume that there was no adhesive involved. At another spot along the river, in summer an artist builds amazing balanced rock structures, all without glue. It's quite a sight.
