Me and my pots
Lens: DA 12-24 Camera: KP Photo Location: Seagrove, NC ISO: 800 Shutter Speed: 1/6s Aperture: F8

Every few years, I get a re-order for these foot-soaking bowls for a boutique hotel on 5th avenue in NYC, the Andaz. This year, it was 100, so I've been busy. They take up a lot of my workspace. After a week's work, I saw an opportunity for some self promotion on social media so I took some photos with the self timer. Would this be considered a selfie or not?

Upper left is a finished piece, glazed black. Left and right are groupings of two pieces that will be joined, then sliced with a wire at an angle and cleaned up to look like the ones behind me. On the top shelf behind me are some mugs that will fit in the kiln around the bowls during firing.

Which reminds me of

My teacher told me I'd be no good at poetry because of my dyslexia.

But so far I've made four vases and a jug.

Good to see a true craftsman making his living in this competitive world in which we find ourselves.

I see that they even feature your product on their website in both text and pictures.

Do you supply their other hotels too?

Thanks Kerrydown. This is the only hotel that has these foot-soaking bowls. Here's a photo of one in a room we talked them into letting me take when I delivered some in 2012.

Great to see your work down in Seagrove. We've got quite a few Mahans up here in Alleghany County as well. Hope you're enjoying the KP.

Thanks lukulele. My Mahans are from Alabama, but that doesn't mean I'm not related to some of you Allegheny Mahans.
