I like it. Everything frames her face. I can't believe you lined her up with the arch in the background.

Yes, it was annoying to keep changing position on a busy sidewalk to get this right, Norm, but I had to do it or the arch becomes a distraction instead of a frame. This is a portfolio shot for her, so it has to be about the face. I got her to raise her hands so the forearms would be leading lines.

thanks for sharing , been wondering about that sigma 35 prime , had my finger on it , just ordered the 18 - 35 sigma super deal on it ,$ 350 below reg retail in the pentax mount only , so hoping it works well on the k3II , but really wanted that 35 for my k1 little out of my reach for price right now just scraped up enough for the 18 35, Beautiful Image by the way well done !!

Thanks, Outlander, I think a very fast 35mm (like the upcoming DFA 35mm) makes for great portraits wide open. You have to get in very close, of course, so you're needing the full cooperation of the subject, but the pictures have an intimate feel. Much more of the subject is in focus compared to longer lenses at f1.4, while the background can be nice and semi-abstracted if it's selected to be far enough away, like at this intersection. f8 simply wouldn't work, it would become an entirely different pic, an environmental one, street photography.
