That is an excellent shot - the breeding plumage and courtship behaviour in a very well composed and sharp image. This is surely one for the photo competitions!

Capturing a pair of birds in a pose like this is undoubtedly partly (and only partly) luck - no doubt some patient stalking and waiting was also involved.
But to capture them so perfectly, and in a moment like this - with such clarity and detail, that is something else. Absolutely a beautiful photograph, one to die for.

Thank you all for the very kind comments. We try and go to Florida every February for the breeding season. Sometimes we get lucky, other times not so much. Some of our favorite places were destroyed by storms and the birds are no longer there but there are many other places to find them.
