Self-portrait in a Dark Room, or, In a Room, Darkly (Lit)
Lens: smc Pentax DA* 50-135mm f2.8 Camera: Pentax K-3II Photo Location: My home ISO: 400 Shutter Speed: 1/180s Aperture: F2.8

I took this earlier this night for the self portrait section of a photography class I'm taking. The professor wanted an additional picture so I shot this into a mirror I placed against a cabinet in a dark room. I originally wanted a different look but I didn't like how they were coming out so I decided to see what happened when I held my camera/lens/flash combo by my left side with the flash head point slightly up, behind and to the left. This is after post-processing with film emulation. Edited in RawTherapee.

Aye we're all back in play now.

Technique certainly for an interesting image.

Your head seems to float....kind of disembodied . I like the photo effect.

I like the effect too. It reminds me of a B&W shot I took back in my film days. A friend of mine was the lead guitarist in a rock band. His personality was really laid-back and self-effacing, but he was an excellent player. I got invited to shoot some promo pics at one of their gigs. I grabbed a shot of Ed where the spotlight was on his guitar and hardly any light was falling on his face. Metaphorically just the way he wanted it, highlight on the music and not on him personally. It's still one of my all-time favorite shots.
