Forest impression
Posted By: JMR, 10-29-2008, 07:09 AM

Just north of Toronto, there are all these Forestry lots controlled by the Government. Almost always near conservation areas. I pass them by often without giving them a second look. But as soon as passed them by in light rain the open areas took on another look. Though the trees did not look like this image, I saw the scene as surreal. So I took a few images, overexposed, blended them and created this. Not everyone will like it, but it is an impression.

I like your picture/painting, you should frame that one!

I really enjoy the effect you are creating in these shots. The manipulation is obvious but that just makes it part of the process of achieving the final work of art. Bravo!

I love the effect. Nice colors and the PP is really good. The only thing that doesn't work for me is the composition/crop on this one.....it's a little too centered for my uneven eye. Keep doing these though. They're different...in a good way!

JMR... This one is different from the rest I have seen. The foreground is very bold and makes the shot stand out. Great work on this one. JIMBO

Thanks Mr Riley. I have seen your site, so probably know these images are similar to Orton slide imagery. But, as you have said, in the end it is the art the counts and if the image is successful the technique is secondary.

Thanks for your feedback. I did mull over whether the main subject was too centred. Enough to suffer the many stones and sand thrown my way by the passing trucks. In the end I settled with this composition because, although it is true, in general that subjects can be too static when placed in the centre of an image, it does not always hold. But I certainly take your point as valid.
