of fern fronds. I am a big fan of ferns, and northern New Zealand was a fern paradise.

That is what I saw and thought about putting something to that effect in the title or caption

Thanks Tony! I had never seen one like this either. As you can see, I was practically standing under it.

Beautiful! I expected to see an Archeopteryx perched in it... Or some other flying/climbing dinosaur.

Most of NZ is rich in Tree ferns. I come from the West side of the North Island and our forests are full of them. This one is a Cyathea probably Cyathea smithii commonly known as Ponga.

Thanks GUB! You have fantastic ferns not to mention all of the other plant and tree species. I really enjoyed walking through the forest. Certainly a highlight of my visit.

I can almost imagine being there, and standing underneath it. Almost a Zen moment.

I gather you made the most of your recent trip down under, Todd. And possibly got back home just in time, too.

Thanks K2 to K50! Yes we did make the most of it. We were fortunate to time the trip just right. It went downhill quickly for travelers and locals soon after we left. We do want to come back and spend more time in different parts of Australia. We only got to spend time in the Sydney area.
