Fern Canopy

I don't know how long a fern like this lives, but it must be ancient to get this tall. There were several of these along the path that we walked, but it was difficult to get a clear photo that shows how large they are.

Thanks. It was a tough one to get a good image of without tramping around in the forest, so I got the best angle that I could. The forest area we were in was protected and we were required to stay on the trails.

This one is Cyathes medullaris, common name Mamaku. These are quite quick growers, this one could be as young as 50 years.
