Sorry, when I said I don't do flowers I meant that I dont put a lot of effort into them when I do take one.
I have tried a lot harder with these than usual, I much prefer to do bugs when shooting macro.

Can I ask what makes number 3 not as good as the others, it's just that everyone that sees them picks this one as last choice yet it is actually my favourite.

Thanks.
IMO, it is because you have a second out of focus flower that interferes with design of the first. If the Out of focus elements were strategically located through out the picture space it would be a more effective composition. So despite the flower being beautiful, the out of elements in the photo detract from the overall image because they are not well located. It is why most of us reject 90% of our images. As in most macro and other work, less is more.

Holy sh*t!!! These are extraordinary! Was this with a Series 1 105 macro, or one of the other neat vivitars? Did you use flash, what aperture etc was these shot taken with?

Thanks.
The lens is a 100mm f2.8 Vivitar macro made by Kiron. Apparently it is the one they based the Series 1 105mm macro on.
Here is a picture I took when I first received it, the lens came in a package of camera bits I got off Ebay which consisted of a zoom, a 28mm, a 50mm, a set of bellows, a Ricoh camera body and some filters (all for $150 delivered to Spain).

Shots were all handheld and around f5.6 + (you can see more by clicking on the picture and looking on the more properties on Flickr).
AF-360 flash was used.
