Mallards in Flight
Lens: A 400/5.6 Camera: K-50 Photo Location: Golden ISO: 1600 Shutter Speed: 1/1000s Aperture: F11

I keep hearing how nice catch-in-focus is, but I've never been able to get it to work - until I finally realised that you can't have AF set to back-button only (and I can't bear to have AF happen with the shutter button - I like the completely different buttons for that, then I realised customised buttons can be saved in user modes too - which is great!). Learning to hold the shutter button down is weird, but it makes flying birds much easier using CiF... Anyways, enough blabber and more photos - it's a bit noisy, but still a usable image.

Well done! The pair of ducks really stand out against the spruce trees in the background, just a touch of motion blur at the wingtips to make it look more dynamic, it looks great.

Thanks - it was certainly all planned out to show exactly that

Terrific photo! Great job all around: composition, background and colors and clarity of the two birds.

Nicely done. The background is wonderful. Love the dark green and it shows off the birds nicely. Perfectly focused. I will have to give CiF another try.

I'm still getting used to CiF, but for birds flight it's a game changer with manual focus lenses especially with the really long focus throw of the A 400. I need to change my mind set a bit, as I've never got into the 'spray and pray' style of shooting, but that's starting to yield results now. Good luck if you try it some more

Great shot. Gives me incentive to try BIF again. Never had much luck at it and gave up.

Thanks - it requires patience and the acceptance of a (very) low keeper rate - good luck

Great capture bertwert! It is the perfect backdrop for the ducks, and very well executed.
