One of the most beautiful areas in all of Arizona. There is Grand Canyon Nat'l Park and then Saguaro Nat'l Park. The Sonoran Desert at its best !

Question for you. Out of curiosity, did you use a polarizing filter on lens or was the sky "blued" in Photoshop or Lightroom? Reason I ask is that I am from AZ and I know the sky is always normally a grey haze. Thanks

No C.P.L. was used as it would not have covered the expanse of the sky completely in the horizontal format (12 mm FL in APS-C is equivalent to an 18 mm in FF) and would have created weird dark and light blue zones. Instead, I adjust my K3 color palette to "VIBRANT" with a little increased contrast and saturation. This was taken in late June last year on a very hot and clear day in the morning hours. Los Angeles smog usually finds its way to the Grand Canyon instead of Southern Arizona because of the direction of the prevailing winds.

Regards

I have a K-3 too. So you do this all in camera on a JPEG? Nice

Exactly. The K3 provides a lot of adjustment latitude of the color palette you prefer. Just try different adjustments and keep the one you like best.

I'm just really getting into digital. These cameras are almost overwhelming in their control. I shot with a KX back in the day. Advanced features on that were DOF and mirror lock up! Thanks for responding. Really nice photo.

The Sonoran is really different from the Mojave Desert, more verdant, more pungent, more full of life. Flora is totally different with huge and varied cactus species. Glad you like it too, Todd.
