Kelvin-Helmholtz Clouds
by RobGeraghty, on Flickr

These clouds form when the upper layer of air is moving much faster than the lower layer.

I confess I've never shouted a round of Scotch. If you don't name your tipple, you might be disappointed!

Ok for me it's a Laphroaig Quarter Cask, which is an Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky.

Thanks! I had just enjoyed a cup of sake with a friend at sunset. It was comfy!

Thanks Jer! My friend spotted the clouds - I might have seen them if they weren't behind me!

Thanks! I've seen them before but I'd forgotten the term. I thought that the shapes looked a bit like Hokusai's Great Wave off Kanagawa, but my Japanese friend thought that they looked like Lyrebirds!
Whoops! I meant “composition” not “comfy”

Autocorrect strikes again? Thanks! I did crop it quite a bit, to remove extraneous trees.
