One of the most unique sculptures I've ever seen.

It was created by English sculptor Danny Osborne, formed from different coloured stones, head of white jadeite, torso of green nephrite jade from British Columbia, Canada, and pink thulite from Norway. The legs of Norwegian Blue Pearl granite with the shoes being black Indian charnockite and finished with bronze shoelace tips. The statue also wears a Trinity College tie made from glazed porcelain, and three rings – Wilde's wedding ring and two scarabs, one for good luck, the other for bad luck.

Now that's art that a philistine like me or a flintstone like Fred can appreciate. I think I appreciate the back stories you provide as much as your flawless images.

What a wonderful statue....the languid, bemused...rakish air as shown in the statue's body posture and facial expression...which IMO captures Oscar Wilde. The colour really enhances .

. I like the angle you used ...I think it emphasizes these qualities.

I enjoyed his observations of life. One of my favourites is " I can resist anything but temptation."

I’m glad about that... I wouldn’t want to be responsible for any unapproving geologists.

I must say, BC is the winner with that stunning nephrite jade torso. Norway’s thulite is a close second, though.

If your ever in Dublin, Ireland, it's in Merrion Square near where he lived.

Aye... I had not seen anything quite like that before.

A strong diagonal composition usual works well in these situations.

Many of his quotes give me a wry grin... my favourite being "It is only the modern that ever becomes old-fashioned"

I wonder how long it took to come up with the perfect mix of materials, to give an end result so stunning.
