Painted Desert, Petrified Forest Nat'l Park, Arizona.

When traveling the length of the National Park, you encounter these beautiful multicolored mounds, remnants of ancient marine clay deposits. Each layer represents millions of years of sedimentation in a long disappeared inland sea. Pentax K1 + DFA 28-105 mm @ 105 mm FL and f/14.

Beautiful scene Richard. The clouds really give it a dramatic effect.

Thank you for your kind words. Clouds really stand out and give a 3D appearance to this picture. Arizona is such a beautiful State with a surprise at every turn.

Regards

Fine imagery, I'm reminded of the sand layer art, you used to get when I was young... a good few years ago now.

Great image - the cloud layers beautifully complement the earth layers. Very pleasing viewing.
