Great pix.

We had two of these birds up here one summer. All the local birders were quite excited because this was the first time these Kites were spotted this far north. They had one young, which unfortunately died. Birders thought the two Mississippi Kites had somehow taken a wrong turn and ended up in the Canadian prairies. They or their ilk, have never reappeared.

Thanks. That's interesting that these birds made it up to Canada. They started coming up to Arkansas several years ago and have become plentiful. Others birds of prey have been less plentiful in this area, since the Mississippi Kites have moved into this area.

Your welcome.

Here is the account of the visit of these Kites. The Manitoba Bird Atlas has been developed by the birders association of Manitoba.

Sounds like the Mississippi Kites must be a dominant bird of prey. Are they out competing other birds of prey in your area ?

Thanks for the link. At this time of year, they dominate by strength in numbers.
