Halloween!
Posted By: metroeloise, 11-01-2008, 01:48 PM

My gear life has been feeling like I Love Lucy outtakes! Bit by bit the pieces come together. I am grateful to this forum for all the encouragement, directly and indirectly, given.

New lessons in lowkey random lighting fastpaced crowd shooting in clubs without using flash: Manual Focus! Another lesson that came up but I didn't use it was to slip the mode to bulb when the stage lights strobe. Next time for that one.

Comments and criticism welcomed.

#2 is a great portrait, has a lot of feeling to it and the highlights are prominent but not too intrusive. I do think it could be improved by cropping some from the right.
Overall, for the series, good job.

Thanks! I am setting myself up to learn how to clone things out... This and a few others will be my object lessons. I'll do a crop as you suggest; I'll also clone to black.

Thank you. She was "being Jakie O."

Indeed. I'll bet Phillip Marlow is just around the corner.

Thank you.

I like the serendipitous nature of photography. It takes a lot of work to really get it. with #2 I have a few, maybe 8 total shots of her. I can look at the sequence and note as my thoughts were focusing on different elements. Noticing the Jakie O-ness and her openly extending to be pictured, I actually got this one in my vision for a result.

PP can be serendipitous also. Try different setting/presets and roll with it as one inspires another. With this shot I knew what I wanted. And It Felt Good.

"It"is all coming together in my head, eyes and fingers! Now to work on composition.

And here's the great thing of this: She and a few other powerful presenting and creative people have just asked me to shoot them! Well!

Getting the equipment gathered together. I'm excited!

Thank you all for the inspiration and guidance.

Nailed the focus on the eyes on the second.... I have to agree... that's the stunner out of the lot. Overall though... a keen series.

Kind and encouraging. There are a few during the over all night that are as sharp. Moving on to MF is a great break through. And I did it all w/o SR! (accident) Considering my AF issues, this will make living with those easier through the holidays. But when to schedule that month?

Darn!

Oh well... as my sister says: Suck it up.

Thanks again to all for the kind words.

Thank you.

Yes, she has "Mystique" eyes; bright florescent green. One year a friend went all out and painted herself blue and painted in the scales too. She won the contest.

So great to see these. Love the lace, the colors, and esp. the expressions.
