In case you got a K 50 with K 50 issue and you don't use it anymore, just get rid of that IR Filter on the Sensor and have fun doing cool stuff. Guess i gotta get me more of these! I'm also happy my 35-80mm lense finally got used as its my only zoom lense with 49mm filter and one of the few lenses i got with 49mm AND an aperture ring. Also since i can't use the Viewfinder anyways, as my eyes lack active IR , i have to use live view where the focus works (we did screw up the viewfinder AF ). We also screwed the infinity focus but somehow the filter does help with that issue too.

Also I used a 720Nm-China-buy-cheap-wait-forever-and-buy-twice-filter. I intended a 52mm filter but thankfully got a 49mm. I would have loved to use it on my Sigma Super Wide II but this time i am quite happy to use a zoom lense since i cant swap camera and even if i would be to lazy to screw that filter off and on and so on... only real downside is that i only have on battery atm and liveview drains alott power!

K 50 FTW!!!

not a bad idea to go IR with a cheap 'broken' camera.....mine (broken) still sees plenty of use......everything works but the auto aperture stuff.....it's great shooting in a creek with a fa50/f1.4......no worries of dunkin the K-1 with the fa77

What's this about an IR filter on the sensor? Didn't know about that. Can you explain?

Honestly I felt a little bad about doing this to a camera that has served me well. But since I didn't use it any more (no need to carry K 3, K 5 AND a K 50) i did it.

The sensor itself is not only sensitive to visible light but also IR light. In the picture i am holding the filter, that i removed, in front of the lense. It will screw your auto WB and depending on your skill also the autofocus and the infinity focus but you also get double the light and you can see cool stuff. And you can use these fancy IR filters without bothering to bring a tripod
