Thanks! for air shows like this, The very best opportunity for a good shot is when they perform a slow or "medium speed" fly-by, straight down the runway. The announcer will always alert you to the impending pass, so "be ready". What I do with is use spot focus and back button focus, and hope. The DA300 is not particularly fast focusing, and manual is out in fast developing conditions such as a jet passing by. Alternatively, I might pre-focus at the distance that I reckon the target will pass by. Other than that, just pan accurately and smoothly and start the burst at a good time.

Beautiful bird in flight. Watched a demo at an airshow with an F-15 friend. I asked him to compare their respective capabilities. He didn't want to talk about it.

Thank you! I don't know why it never occurred to me to try it in B&W til now, but when I did I couldn't stop staring at it.
